I’d like to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy New Year.
This past year was a weird one for my family. Not only did I get laid off from my job early in the year, but everything in my house seemed to hit a simultaneous expiration date for working properly. My wife is washing dishes by hand as I type because our dishwasher conked out right after Thanksgiving. It’s not that big of a deal, except that it’s just part of a long list of things breaking throughout the year.
But despite all of that, I look at the past year as a good one. I was blessed with a severance package and stock options from the job lay-off, so I was able to spend time with my wife and kids all last summer.
During the year, my sons both learned to swim, I wrote an ebook and started this site, I learned how to build web sites and blogs, my wife started substitute teaching, we left our church home of 8+ years to join a church that is 1/100th the size, and we went to my 20 year high school reunion (though I guess that could fit into either the good or bad category, depending on how you look at it:). And just as time was winding down financially, I was able to get a new job working from home.
It was a year filled with challenges, but because of our faith and trust in God, my family and I were able to press through. We knew that God would take care of us and had/has great things in store for us.
So what should we expect in the new year? I don’t know the details, but because Romans 8:28 tells us that all things work together for good to those who love God, I do know that it’s going to be good.
I’m looking forward to a great 2007 and I pray that you, your marriage, and your family are blessed as well.
